Jyoti Palekar

(Co-Founder and Managing Director)

Jyoti has Masters in Technology (M Tech) degree in Environmental Science and Engineering from Centre for Environmental Science and Engineering (CESE), IIT Mumbai. With more than 25 years of consulting experience in environment & sustainability she leads the STEP team. Jyoti has previous work experience at Jacobs Engineering India Private Limited and Environmental Engineering Consultants. As a technical expert, Jyoti has worked on diverse assignments in environmental engineering services, environment & Social Impact Assessments, sustainability and resource management. She has work experience in India, United States of America, United Kingdom and Thailand.

Jyoti is IRCA certified ISO 14001 lead auditor and trained by CII-ITC Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Development in GRI-4 Certified Training in Sustainability Reporting. Jyoti is a lifetime member of the National Safety Council, Indian Environmental Association and Bombay Natural History Society. She is visiting faculty at Mumbai University and a few private academic institutes. Jyoti is also managing trustee of iNaturewatch Foundation.

Dr. M.G.(Deepak) Palekar

Deepak is chemical engineer with a doctorate degree from University Department of Chemical Technology (UDCT now ICT), Mumbai, India. He worked in University of Ghent, Belgium for 2 years, and has 25+ years of experience in corporates in India (Polychem & Atul) and multi-nationals (Unilever India & Rhodia India). He has working experience across the globe with long experience of doing business in China & Japan. Deepak has experience in range of business areas with expertise in techno- commercial issues of specialty chemicals business. For last 12 years he is foucused on sustainability and process intensification areas. His main role in STEP is to develop business and strategy and to promote green technologies.

Apart from his association with STEP, Deepak is associated with Japanese companies for contract research and manufacturing (CRAM) projects to produce specialty chemicals including patented chemicals. He also works with financial institutes, mutual funds and private equity companies advising them for investment in Indian Chemical Companies
